Summer has ended, but the heat hasn’t! One of the common conditions you may see during a hot day while working out are heat strokes. It’s basically your body saying I can’t cope with this heat. Here are some symptoms:

  1. heat edema, the heat causes your blood vessels to dilate (expand), thus your body fluids start to move into the hands or legs by gravity
  2. heat rash (ie, prickly heat)
  3. heat cramps
  4. heat tetany
  5. as well as heat syncope
  6. heat exhaustion
  7. etc.

Heatstrokes can quickly damage your brain, kidneys, heart, and muscles. The risks of future complications and damage will worsen if treatment is delayed. Treatments may include:

  1. immersing the patient in cold or ice water,
  2. apply ice to: neck, back, armpit, and groin to lower their temperature
  3. give medications to stop shivering, when you shiver your body temperature increases making your treatment less effective.

So, be sure to stay hydrated and wear lightweight clothes~
