Remember those days during PE classes, where your coach would always make their students stretch before running or playing any sport? Well they had good reason to! Stretching allows for a greater range of motion that eases the stress on your tendons as well as your joints. As a result it can prevent future injuries/ problems to your body. In addition, the types of stretches you do matter. You may have seen static stretching, which is the most common, or dynamic stretching. While static stretching maybe the easiest one to do, it isn’t as beneficial as dynamic stretching. Dynamic stretching is performed similar to static stretching, but you are moving receptively through a comfortable but challenging range of motion in your stretch. Dynamic stretching is ideal, especially to prep your muscles for rigorous movement before your work out. Whereas static stretching is designed to hold a position and relax that specific muscle; letting it go further on it’s own, which is much less challenging and won’t improve your performance as much as dynamic stretching.

At Quek Performance we offer all different styles of stretching:

  • ballistic stretching.
  • dynamic stretching.
  • active stretching.
  • passive (or relaxed) stretching.
  • static stretching.
  • isometric stretching.
  • etc.
